Peoria Christian Reformed Church

Weighted Comfort for Kids sewing days are held once each month from 2:00-8:00 p.m. in the church basement.  Everyone is welcome!  Come and go as you please, stay as long as you like.  Bring your own sewing machine if convenient, but it is not necessary as there are steps that do not require sewing.  So if you want to help but can't sew, please come!  Supper and snacks are provided.  Please contact Patty Veenstra (641-625-4571 or custodian@peoriacrc.org) with any questions.

Weighted Comfort for Kids, NFP, is a non-profit group started in 2015 by two sisters.  Liz Depew and Katie Kinzler desire is to create and distribute (for a small cost to help with shipping) weighted blankets for children with  Autistic (ASD) or Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).  These blankets are typically valued at $100-$400.  This may seem like a small expense but, on average a family can pay an extra $17,000 to support an ASD or SPD child. This includes but does not limit to: specialty doctors, therapists, schools, other sensory equipment, and special childcare.  To learn more, please visit www.weightedcomfortforkids.org.
